Want to explore some of the most incredible hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest? Forks, Washington isn't just famous for being the setting of Twilight – it's actually one of the coolest places to go hiking, especially if you love lush rainforests and amazing coastal views.

First off, you should know that Forks sits right between two awesome parts of Olympic National Park. On one side, you've got the Hoh Rainforest, which is like stepping into another world. Imagine walking under giant trees that are covered in bright green moss – some of these trees are as tall as a 20-story building! The Hall of Mosses Trail is perfect for beginners, and it's like walking through nature's own museum. The trail is about 0.8 miles long, which usually takes about an hour because you'll want to stop and take pictures of everything.

If you're up for something a bit more challenging, the Hoh River Trail is super cool. It follows the Hoh River, which looks like liquid crystal, and you might spot some Roosevelt elk hanging out near the water. Don't worry – they're usually pretty chill! The best part is you can hike as far as you want and then turn back when you're tired.

Now, let's talk about the coastal trails near Forks. Rialto Beach is one of my favorites because it's not your typical beach hike. Instead of sand everywhere, you'll be walking past these massive driftwood logs that look like they're from giant trees (because they are!). If you hike about 1.5 miles up the beach, you'll find these awesome rock formations called "Hole-in-the-Wall." Just remember to check the tide tables before you go – you don't want to get caught when the tide comes in!

Second Beach Trail is another must-do hike. It's only about 0.7 miles to get to the beach, but you'll need to climb down some stairs and navigate some tree roots. Trust me, it's worth it! When you break through the forest and see the beach for the first time, you'll feel like you've discovered your own private paradise. There are these huge sea stacks (tall rocks) sticking out of the ocean that look like something from a movie set.

Here's something cool about hiking around Forks – you're actually exploring one of the few temperate rainforests in North America. This means you might get a little wet (okay, maybe more than a little), so bring a good rain jacket and waterproof hiking boots. But the rain is what makes everything so green and magical!

For those days when you want something easier, the Spruce Nature Trail near the Hoh Rainforest Visitor Center is perfect. It's only about 1.2 miles long and mostly flat. You'll see nurse logs (fallen trees that have new trees growing on top of them), and if you're lucky, you might spot some banana slugs – they're bright yellow and actually kind of cute!

One important thing to remember: since you're hiking in bear country, always make some noise while hiking (talking with friends works great) and stay with your group. Don't worry too much though – black bears usually want nothing to do with humans and will avoid you if they hear you coming.

The best time to go hiking around Forks is during the summer when it's a bit drier, but each season has something special. Spring brings wildflowers, summer has the best weather, fall shows off amazing colors, and winter... well, winter is for the brave ones who don't mind getting really wet!

Remember to always tell someone where you're going, bring plenty of water and snacks, and pack layers because the weather can change quickly. Also, don't forget your camera – you're going to want to remember these trails forever!
